OK, I'll bite. Why would an innovative, market-leading, company, just about to do the most impressive IPO in this millenium yet, want to merge with a boring, old dinosaur that seems to have a history of failed attemts to re-invent itself?
Let's assume this is one or two years down the road, and this is the "new" Novell where the latest attempt (Suse, Ximian, a viable "Linux Desktop", etc.) has "succeeded" already.
If Google really is the IPO of the millenium, then assume that, on this future date, Google has the leverage to buy Novell.
