Pronounced "JAY-son"

Why do people say "jay-SAHN"? OSCON speakers much have been coached --
everyone is doing it.

From wikipedia which is inerrant...

JSON (pronounced /ˈdʒeɪsɒn/, i.e., "Jason")

I've always pronounced it "jay-SAHN" in my head. I think it might come from years of Java-based products whose names start with the letter J.

E.g., jEdit, which I prounounce "jay-edit", rather than "jeddit".
