Evolution

Sean McGrath writes about SOAP...

Behind the firewall, nobody can hear you scream and nobody can see your wallet bleed.
Success should also be measured by an ability to evolve. Building a system once is not the challenge.

The scary point came when one of Sean's commentators argued that things were getting better because: "Architecture groups are becoming keepers of the canonical schemas." which, frankly is the Kiss of Death for any technology.
