Peter Yared's presentations on ActiveState are pretty cool. He can whip out an app pretty quickly. The tool is open source/cross platform so feel free to give it a try. (In fact his presentation felt very similar to David's Ruby on Rails presentation which I happened to attend this week). Things don't have to be complicated (though j2ee pundits might disagree...)
